FAQ: 2021 Speaker Information
(Speaker Waiting Room)


Note: All sessions/presentations will take place in the United States Eastern Time Zone.

What is the Speaker Waiting Room? 
If you were asked to participate in a live portion of the Annual Meeting — e.g., livestreamed plenary and symposia sessions, Question-and-Answer periods, and live discussions/panels — you will need to join the Speaker Waiting Room 30 minutes before your session begins. The Speaker Waiting Room is a separate Zoom call where the session chairs, moderators and speakers will be able to see and talk with each other live.
 
How do I access the Speaker Waiting Room?
All session chairs, moderators and speakers participating in a live portion of the Annual Meeting received a calendar invite from our audiovisual partner, ImageAV. This calendar invite included a Zoom link, a Meeting ID, and a unique password for joining the Speaker Waiting Room on the day of your session.
 
What if I did not receive a calendar invite for the Speaker Waiting Room?
For all session chairs, moderators and speakers participating in a live portion of the Annual Meeting, a calendar invite was sent to you using the email provided to ASTMH. Please check your other email addresses and your spam/junk folders, if necessary.
 
When should I access the Speaker Waiting Room?
Please log into the Speaker Waiting Room 30 minutes before your session is slated to begin. The calendar invite you received is scheduled 30 minutes before the panel goes live, so please join at the scheduled time on your calendar invite.
 
Will I be admitted to the Speaker Waiting Room right away?
You may be asked to wait in the Zoom lobby of the Speaker Waiting Room until our audiovisual partner is ready to accommodate the chairs, moderators and speakers in your session.
 
When will the Speaker Waiting Room go live?
If you are in the Speaker Waiting Room, our audiovisual partner will walk you through the process and provide sufficient warning before you are brought on screen and broadcast live.
 
Will Question-and-Answer periods be available on-demand?
No, a recording of the Q&A period will not be available in the on-demand version of the session.
 
Will I be able to watch the pre-recorded portion of my session while I am in the Speaker Waiting Room?
Yes, you will be able to view the pre-recorded presentations as they play during the session while you wait in the Speaker Waiting Room.
