Professor Dominic Kwiatkowski (1953-2023), was a world-renowned expert in malaria, genomics and public health. To honor his life and contributions, a new research initiative in partnership with the Gates Foundation has been established.

The Kwiatkowski Fellowship will be awarded annually to one early- to mid-career researcher from a low- or middle-income country (LMIC) focused on advancing research in malaria genomic epidemiology. This initiative not only commemorates Professor Kwiatkowski’s legacy but also aims to foster the next generation of researchers dedicated to combating malaria in endemic regions.

The fellowship’s goal is to strengthen Professor Kwiatkowski’s legacy through providing recognition and support of early- to mid-career scientists from low- or middle- income countries advancing research in malaria genomics.

Each recipient of the Kwiatkowski Fellowship will receive $20,000 designated to advance their research project
